Course Critiques from 2008 class:

Alan's passion and knowledge for gardening are both inspirational and motivating in the classroom. He has introduced me to new ways, and new tools to use while I enjoy myself in my garden at home.   I am looking forward to applying the skills that he has  taught us and working hands on with him and my classmates in the garden.

Classes were very interesting and informative. I learned something new every week and it was usually about gardening.
I now know why mulching is so important, how to pick proper tools and where to spend my money. I am looking forward to working in the garden and putting this new knowledge to work. Classes were relaxed, fun and the time flew.
- a good grounding in the basics
- longer classes - 3 hours or an 8th class would be great!
- separate class for graduates - intermediate gardening would be nice.

The classes were definately not what I expected. I was one of those people who wanted to be told how to plant a seed and split a Dahlia!!  However I found the course interesting, if a lot of unnecessary information. I felt Alan took a long time to come to the relevant point, and a lot of that information could have been diluted!
Of particular benefit to me-I hope-was the  class about soil. I will find out after I stop adding peat moss and start adding sand! Yes, I listen to what they tell me at the garden centre!

I will just take a minute to comment on the “Peel Teaching Gardening” classes that I have attended this Winter. The classes were nothing short of spectacular.  Allen’s lectures were superb, interesting and entertaining.  They brought me not only a new knowledge of gardening, but also of science and chemistry, how about that for a gardening class.

I believe the time and effort put forth by the organizers is nothing short of remarkable for the small input by those attending.  The Pumpkin Pies certainly were an added touch.

I learned so much… and had to forget so much of what I thought I knew.
The whole experience was most rewarding and I look forward to helping out in the garden. The only comment of a negative nature would be that there are not more classes or more frequent. Thanks to everyone for a great experience.
