Was up at the Gardens again today. Spent 2 hours tidying up the other front side of the Admin Building. I will try to get up again soon probably Tuesday and finish the rest of the hemerocallis around the building. We still have alot to do before the ground freezes. The annuals have to be removed from the front signs and corner garden, all the tender bulbs, tubers etc have to be lifted and cleaned and stored, straw has to laid over some of the rows in nursery and tomatoes still need to picked and plants need to be pulled. Still lots to do but we always seem to get things done.

I went to the gardens at 8:00 to 12:30.
Planted the balance of annuals around the sign out front.
Went along the back of the building and helped Moeen plant dahlias, then we prepared bed out front for dahlias.
I pulled weeds from one of wedding garden beds and out front of building. Planted a solomon's seal in wedding garden.
Then Alan, Moeen and I removed the handle from the lawnmower. It had an accident and needs some tender loving care, I will take give it to my husband and see if it can be repaired.

The display beds around the main building are in desperate need of maintenance and we still have hundreds of dahlias to get potted up. The weekend is shaping up nicely and volunteers should be turning out to help with this.

This Highbush cranberry is approximately 8ft and is growing outside the classroom window. The birds find the berries a tasty treat this time of year. (Did you know you can also make jelly from these berries). Today is class number two. We have had a few more students sign up during the week and we now have the same amount as last year. Yeah!! What a class we learned how to properly hold a knife. Who new there was a right and wrong way!! We also learned how to use a common household item to sharpen your knives.

Building gardens out front. The fall colours worked well this year. We will add a few things for the next blooming season.

The garden at the main building (Admin) wraps around the corner. We have kept the plantings uniform all the way around.

Garden at the front of the Admin Bldg. We grow a tall variety of Dahlia in yellow and in the front of this border a dwarf variety in red. In between is a grouping of hemerocallis.

June 6th we planted the garden around the sign. Alan is sorting through the many flats of annuals to set up what will go where.
