APHIDS

These sap sucking pests have fat little pear shaped green bodies but may be black, gray or orange. All plants may be affected by this insect. They prefer flower buds and shoot tips. While feeding they can transmit viruses that will yellow, curl or distort growth. Signs of this pest are a weakened plant and sticky honeydew like deposits.
To help control this pest check your plants often,do not over fertilize and use a strong spray of water on foliage when you see them.
If you prefer use a homemade insecticidal soap once a week, this will take away the protective waxy coating and cause dehydration.
