Class #2
22 students returned for this class, and 4 past students. Today we discussed the difference between a shovel and a spade. Did you know there was a difference? Most don't realize the differences or that a cant on an implement can vary from one supplier to the next. Have you sharpened your shovel yet? Did you know when you purchase a shovel it is dull. Before using this tool you should always sharpen with an axe file. Do not use the one with the pointy end (See emergency room etiquette!!) the pointy end is an accident waiting to happen, and it will. Several other tools were discussed including the types of secatuers available today, Springback rakes, roto-tillers, the fourth man, and forks.
A basic garden tool kit should be a good quality fork (border), shovel D or long(purchase long handled tools with grain going up and down the handle for better strength), spring back rake, and a good set of secateurs (never walk around with them open).
You should sharpen all cutting tools after use.
At the end of the class someone found a Blackberry in the parking lot.
