Harvesting corn, natures perfect little package. When the silks(hairy tassel at the top of the husk)starts to turn brown. Pull back the husk a little to check the corn. The tips of the cob are immature and can make you think they aren't ready. If the kernel, when pressed with your nail, leaks out a milky liquid the cobs are ready for picking. If the liquid is watery, it's too early, and doughy it's too late.
Harvest from the stalk by holding the stalk with one hand and the ear at the base with the other. Twist firmly downward (like turning a door knob) Corn starts to loose sweetness as soon as its picked, so pick when you will eat, or refridgerate as soon as possible.

Corn is planted between the last frost and early June and should be ready for harvesting depending on your variety between August and September.
