September 25, 2006

The second set of beds started out in 2005 and there are now 25 rows with mulched paths between each. They are all 4ft wide x 30ft long and due to the labour of love by our volunteers this second set was completed way above schedule.

Various suggestions from the 2006 course assessments will be ongoing until at least January as Alan tries to work them into the sessions. All the potatoes have been dug and work has begun on converting the potatoe patch into the nursery beds. The tomatoe vines will need to be picked.(A swap for the unripe fruit for flats of green onions to be planted in spring, but there should be plenty if anyone wants them.) Melon vines are done but pumpkin and squash vines were okay and the fruit is better because of one last frost before harvest.

??? Nematodes are:
a small frogs
b microscopic worms
c fungus spores
