Take advantage of the beautiful weather and trim those tree branches. Cut out the crossed, broken or damaged ones, any that are growing straight out and any dead branches, diseased, weak and thin, or rubbing branches. This will allow more light and give your shrubs or trees a more appealing look. Don't forget to cut out water sprouts from the trunk and main branches and suckers from the trunk base or roots. If your trees are 10ft or more I don't recommend you do it yourself but look for a arborist in your area to get the job done safely. DO NOT trim maples. The sap is running this time of year and it can get quite messy. (Maples should be done in the fall)
Cut just outside the branch collar (the swollen area at the branch base), and do not make flush cuts or leave stubs.
